Finalists in the NZ Film Awards

Posted on October 12, 2011 by Mike Riddell

We’re delighted to announce that The Insatiable Moon has been selected as a finalist for six categories in the Aotearoa Film & TV Awards (AFTAs). Our candidates are as follows:

Best Actor in a Feature Film: Rawiri Paratene

Best Supporting Actress in a Feature Film: Sara Wiseman (congrats to Sara for her nomination for Matariki)

Best Supporting Actor in a Feature Film: Greg Johnson

Best Supporting Actress in a Feature Film: Teresa Woodham

Best Original Music in a Feature Film: Neville Copland

Best Screenplay for a Feature Film: Mike Riddell

Hard to understand why a film with so many plaudits has not made the finals for Best Feature or Best Director, but who knows what goes on behind the scenes? The thing we’re proudest of is that the huge fees to submit our 12 nominations came entirely from community support – our fan base who stumped up funds to put us in the running. Finals night is 12 November – spare us a thought!

Congratulations and best wishes. So, why not best director and best film? I am anxious to see the results finally. No one I’ve counted among friends is more deserving than you and Rose. At least you two have been able to overcome unfairness and to still be Mike and Rose. I love you guys and celebrate your goodness and the more you will yet become.

Thanks so much Walker! A very good question indeed – how come not best director or best film – only the organizers know for sure. Email me a postal addy and I’ll send you a little gift. Love to you and Cheryl.
