Shaken to the core
I grew up in Christchurch, and most of my family still lives there. The family home I grew up in has now been condemned and will be demolished. The city is in ruins, and her people wounded. While those who are alive are grateful for each day, they grieve for the dead and for the loss of what can never be restored. Each day the ground shakes again in a terrible reminder of the insecurity of life.
Across New Zealand and throughout the world, people are looking for whatever small ways they can offer help and support. The team at The Insatiable Moon have been thinking about what we can do. We’ve decided to hold a couple of screenings of the film as fundraisers for the earthquake relief fund. This weekend, opening weekend of the film in London, we will be offering a special screening on Saturday 5th March at 11.00am at the Empire cinema in London. All proceeds from this will go to the relief fund. For kiwis living in the UK, why not make this screening your way of paying tribute to the people of Canterbury? Book your tickets here.
And then back here in NZ, the good people of Auckland will have the opportunity to offer their support through a one-off screening at the Bridgeway cinema in Northcote Point. This will take place on Monday March 14th at 8.15pm. Entry will be by donation with a minimum of $10, but feel free to give more. Once again, all proceeds will go to the relief fund. The film will be introduced by director Rosemary Riddell and writer/producer Mike Riddell. It will also be something of a memorial dedication to those whose lives have been lost in the earthquake.
Is there any connection between The Insatiable Moon and the terrible events of the last week? Our film is about people whose lives have been destroyed by various events, and who find themselves crippled by tragedy. And yet it is a declaration of hope and enduring belief in the goodness of life. See this post for a connection.
Help us to help the people of Christchurch by attending these screenings and spreading the word to others. Thank you.

Help – the Empire Cinema states the earthquake appeal screening is on Saturday, March 5 at 11.00 a.m. – not Sunday, March 6.
Which is it please? I was about to book, but then noticed the discrepancy.
I’m trying to contact the cinema directly but its proving impossible to get hold of a phone number or speak to a human who knows whats going on.
