South of here

Following on from the rave reaction to our film from Auckland audiences, we’re now preparing to head south, joining the NZ Film Festival in Dunedin and then Christchurch. So, another four screenings as follows:

Dunedin

Rialto Cinemas                                                 Monday August 2 at 1.15 pm

Christchurch

Regent on Worcester                                             Wednesday August 4 at 6.15 pm

Regent on Worcester                                             Thursday August 5 at 11.00 am

Rosemary and Mike will be doing a full Q&A after each showing.

I grew up in Christchurch, so it feels kind of strange to be going back there after all these years with a film to show. And Rosemary and I both chose to move to Dunedin some years ago, at a time when we knew no one there. It was a magnetic attraction that was never disappointed. It was in Dunedin that we shot and produced our short film Cake Tin with Screen Dunedin, which went on to do well. And I managed the inaugral Dunedin 48hours competition.

Our project has lots of Dunedin connections – lead Rawiri Paratene was a Burns Fellow there, EP Tim Sanders hails from that fine city, and our fab composer Neville Copland live there and has been a Mozart Fellow at Otago University.

So we have friends, family, and fond feelings towards the south. Looking forward to renewing many friendships in our time down there.
