That’s the sound of the post production clock ticking! Within 6 days we need to have the pictures locked for the film, so that we can move ahead with everything else that needs doing. We’ve just spent a couple of days at Images knocking things into shape. The first day we spent 7 hours locked up in a small room with Neville Copland (our Dundedin-based composer), editor Paul Maxwell, Rosemary the director, and moi. It was a detailed spotting session to talk about the shape of the musical landscape, and where to place things. A good days work, even if meant watching the film from start to finish YET AGAIN

The next day it was on to the snip snip of serious editing, as we began to excise those bits which we feel are slowing the film down or confusing the storyline. Back into the same dark room, and once again we ploughed through things at a good rate of knots, knocking around 5 minutes out of the movie. Still a couple more days work to go, as we do some of the more creative editing with Paul, and then give it the once over to tidy up loose ends.

And all the time in the background, meetings, emails, deals and the rumour of deals… it’s constant. We had a great song to go with the love scene – unfortunately when we tried to get the rights for it, the cost was way out of our ballpark. A pity – it worked beautifully. And so now it’s back to the drawing board – do we write a song, or find another? Decisions, decisions. And the clock ticks on.
